How can we help?
Answers about buying, hiring, payments and getting paid on GigMint. If you cannot find what you need, email our support team.
Getting started
What is GigMint?
GigMint is a freelance marketplace. Clients buy fixed-price services from freelancers, or post a project and hire someone from the proposals they receive. Every order is paid by card through Stripe, held securely, and released to the freelancer when the client approves the work.
Is it free to join?
Yes. Creating an account, browsing and posting a project are free. Clients pay the listed price of what they buy. Freelancers pay a fee on each payment they receive (see Fees).
Can I hire and work with the same account?
Yes. One account can buy and sell. Use the Buying / Selling switch in the sidebar to move between your client and freelancer workspaces.
How do I sign up?
Go to Join and sign up with your email address or your Google account. Confirm your email address, then finish your profile.
What does "Example listing" mean?
Some services and profiles are examples that show how GigMint works. They carry an "Example listing" badge and cannot be bought or saved. You can hide them with the "Hide example listings" switch on the browse pages.
Buying a service
How do I buy a service?
Open a service, choose a package and any extras, and pay at checkout. The order starts straight away. Send the freelancer what they need (the requirements) from the order page, and follow progress, messages and deliveries there.
Can I ask for something a package does not cover?
Yes. Use Request a custom offer on the service page and describe what you need. The freelancer can reply with a custom offer at their own price, which you accept and pay like any other order.
Where do I find my orders?
Every paid engagement, whether a service, a project or a custom offer, is an order and lives in Orders. Each order has one page with its status, its timeline and the actions that make sense right now.
Projects and proposals
How do I post a project?
Post a project with a title, a description, a category and a budget. Freelancers send proposals with their price and timeline, and you compare them on your project page.
How do milestones work?
When you hire someone, you fund the whole contract up front. Each milestone is then released on its own when you approve it, so you only release money for work you have seen.
How do I send a proposal as a freelancer?
Open a project from Find work, read the brief and send a proposal with your price, timeline and approach. You can follow its status on your projects page.
Payments and fees
How do I pay?
By card, through Stripe, when the order starts. GigMint never sees or stores your full card number.
Do clients pay a service fee?
No. The price you see is the price you pay. There is no service fee and no card-processing charge on top of a service, a project budget or a milestone.
What do freelancers pay?
When a payment is released, a 10% GigMint fee and card processing (2.9% of the price plus $0.30) are deducted. Each fee is rounded to the cent. The Fees page has worked examples.
Where is my money while the work is done?
The payment is held securely by our payment provider and released to the freelancer when the client approves the work. Your order page always shows how much is held.
Delivery, approval and revisions
What happens when work is delivered?
The client reviews the delivery and either approves it, which releases the payment, or asks for a revision.
What if the client does not respond?
A delivery is approved automatically 7 days after it is delivered. We remind the client on day 3 and day 6, so nothing is approved by surprise.
How many revisions can I ask for?
As many as the package includes. The order page shows how many revisions are left.
Cancellations, refunds and disputes
Can an order be cancelled?
Either side can propose cancelling from the order page. If the other side agrees, the payment is refunded to the client's card. Card refunds usually show on a statement within 5 to 10 business days.
What if we disagree about the work?
Try a revision and a message first; most problems are fixed that way. If you still disagree, open a dispute from the order page. The payment stays held while the dispute is open.
Who decides a dispute?
If the two of you cannot agree, a person on the GigMint team reads the order history and messages and decides whether the held payment is released to the freelancer or refunded to the client.
Getting paid as a freelancer
How do I set up payouts?
Go to Settings → Get paid and connect your bank account through Stripe. Stripe asks for the details it needs to verify you and tells you if your country is supported.
When do I get paid?
When the client approves your delivery or milestone (or it is approved automatically after 7 days), the amount after fees is released to your payout account. Stripe then sends it to your bank.
Where can I see what I have earned?
Earnings shows what is held in your orders, what is on the way and what has been paid, with the fees for each order.
